SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers (ACF), the joint venture between the BMW Group and SGL Group was founded in 2009 for the supply of carbon fiber materials to the BMW Group.
We are setting new standards with our sustainable and cost-effective production and positioning the BMW Group to be the first automotive manufacturer to use carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) in series production.
Our carbon fiber materials, which are used in the passenger compartment of the BMW i models, will allow for entirely new vehicle designs.
Our vision to use the ultralight high-tech material in mass production for other BMW model series, too, has been accomplished with the new BMW 7 Series. CFRP is applied here using a hybrid construction method in making the car body. This makes the new BMW 7 the segment's first vehicle in which industrially produced CFRP is used in connection with steel and aluminium.
Our expertise means that the vehicles will be significantly lighter while ensuring the highest safety.
This is how we transform sustainable, visionary vehicles into the worldwide market leader.
Sustainable mobility is fast gaining speed thanks to us.
